Welcome to the World of K9 Nose Work®!

What is K9 Nosework®?
Your Dog's Nose - Knows Best!
K9 Nose Work® is a fun, enrichment-based activity inspired by the work of professional detection dogs. It was developed in California in the mid-2000s by professional detection-dog trainers Amy Herot, Jill Marie O’Brien, and Ron Gaunt, who saw an opportunity to bring the benefits of scent detection work to everyday companion dogs.
Instead of searching for drugs, explosives, or other professional target odors, dogs learn to use their incredible sense of smell to search for specific scents and locate their source.
But Nose Work is about so much more than finding an odor.
Dogs are encouraged to work independently, solve problems, explore new environments, and make their own decisions—all while doing something that comes naturally to them: using their nose.
Because every dog works at their own pace, Nose Work can be a great activity for dogs of all ages, breeds, sizes, and abilities. It can be especially rewarding for dogs who are shy, fearful, easily overwhelmed, or simply need an appropriate outlet for their mental and physical energy.
There’s no pressure to compete. Your dog can participate simply for enrichment and confidence building, or you can continue into more advanced scent work and competition.
The goal is simple: give your dog a job they love and let their nose lead the way.

Dedicated Instructor and the 4 Nosey Dogs
4noseydogs is owned and operated by Amie DuPlessis, an avid dog lover. Amie started taking Nosework® classes after she got her 3rd dog, Cooper. She was looking for something else to do with him after his puppy obedience class series, that would help him build more confidence. After the first class, she was hooked. Amie has learned from some of the best and long time CNWI℠ in New England ( Massachusetts ) and has taken additional seminars and working opportunities with one of the NACSW℠ founder's, Amy Herot. She also has trained with Dana Zinn, Sue Sternberg, and Michael McManus. Amie is an avid believer in Dana and Sue's "Dog Driven Search" methodology. Amie is also an ORT Trial Judge and is Trial Volunteer Coordinator with the NACSW℠.

Our Mission
We are FOR nosey dogs!
I want your dog to be NOSEY.
Nosey means curious, confident, and comfortable.
Think about it: if your dog isn’t curious, confident, or comfortable in their world, are they truly happy? Do they feel safe?
Nosework gives dogs the opportunity to build those qualities through something that already comes naturally to them—their nose.
It builds confidence, encourages curiosity, and gives dogs a sense of purpose.
I believe every dog deserves the opportunity to live a full, fulfilled life.
And sometimes, that starts by simply letting them lead with their nose.
